His very first tweet on this subject included her website address. This was right before he called her a pimp & wished her "a special place in hell". A little more than this grudging apology would be nice, but considering the source, it will have to do.Lord Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06540378199383131228noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1564874064914705820.post-49390006674119033632012-07-17T08:22:13.480-07:002012-07-17T08:22:13.480-07:00I truly appreciate his apology, as I'm sure Tr...I truly appreciate his apology, as I'm sure Tracy does.

It comes, however, after days of wrangling & condemnation. Mr. Pierce seems locked onto the profit aspect of this situation like a pit bull.
Almost every remark he tweeted about this, after calling her a pimp and wishing her in to "a special place in hell", was based on who would profit from the release of this single image.

It seems so out of touch for a man who makes his living on television, to be unaware of the vast number of photographs, taken internationally, of Uncle Lionel Batiste. Uncle Lionel gave away the love, man. He posed for free pictures with so many, it's unaccountable.

The lesson here is not that anyone should market & trademark every picture of anybody who might be famous one day.

Perhaps the lesson is that once one BECOMES famous, as certainly Mr. Pierce has, they become unable to see past that game, viewing only the dollars & licensing fees associated with that fame, rather than the potential to lead their fans and followers to a place beyond money & greed, where sharing is the norm, and love is the coin of the realm.Lord Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06540378199383131228noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1564874064914705820.post-67075985710117896202012-07-17T07:38:40.409-07:002012-07-17T07:38:40.409-07:00after several exchanges on twitter, he finally did...after several exchanges on twitter, he finally did the right thing:

"I apologize to Tracey. And ...What an ass - he really stuck his foot in it. And as a local designer who has provided countless hours of free and discounted work to local musicians and artists, lived in Treme, been to hundreds of second lines and had many a conversation with Uncle Lionel, I also took offense to this statement on his Facebook page "Typical New Orleans, a zero sum world where your success is at the expense of others. People pimping Unc never even been to Treme or 2nd Line." What about the other typical New Orleans in which people help each other out to accomplish projects, take care of each other when hard times come around and come out to celebrate someone's life, whether they knew them personally or not (or have I been mistaken all these years in thinking that 2nd lines were open to all?)... BTW, thanks Mr. Pierce for not tipping me for those beers. I guess you must have been too financially strapped from all the lack of compensation for your success.
