Island

To be accountable only to one's own belief system is not anarchy. It is integrity. The two, however, are not mutually exclusive.

Sounds like fundamentalism to me.

fun·da·men·tal·ism:

1) : a movement in 20th century Protestantism emphasizing the literally interpreted Bible

2)a movement or attitude stressing strict and literal adherence to a set of basic principles

Both of these definitions describe adhering to an outside influence and it's enforced rules.

Being accountable only to one's self is entirely different, in that one must take the entire responsibility for it.

As for the strict adherence to a group philosophy I cannot change, that's where the anarchy comes in to play.

Being accountable means responsibility as much as it means liberty.

Ok, that works for me.
I don't guess you are strictly stating a basic set of principles in being accountable only to your own belief system.
I thoroughly agree that integrity and anarchy are not mutually exclusive.

On another note, I recently found out you are the one who's been doing the work on that building.
Very nice.

Of course, being accountable only to my own belief system, it really doesn't matter if this works for you or not.

All the same, I'm always glad to reach some level of understanding.

Personally, my belief system constantly changes, as do I and the world around me. Growth is inevitable, and the lack of it, a sure sign of death & atrophy.

When the organization that one is involved with (like governments), begins to become a theocracy that worships money & power (like ours is) Anarchy is the only way to preserve ones individuality, personal freedoms, and of course, integrity.

Anarchy is not chaos, but the refusal to accept imposed criteria. It worked pretty well for the American Colonies, at one point.

As for renovating buildings & salvaging their beauty, it is not only work, but an act of ongoing love.

Thanks for reading, Editilla...
